Runner Feature - Team Tyler - Running Club in London

Team Tyler first joined us at the Lee Valley VeloPark Races on 4th February and have since had representation at all of our events. They are collectively running 500 miles for an incredible cause – Kay; one of Team Tyler tells us more….

Tyler Witherall is a 7 year old little boy who attends the same school as my children. He was diagnosed with brain and spine tumours 2 years ago, and we thought he had managed to battle them successfully with treatment. He suffered a stroke during this time too, which has left him blind in one eye and deaf in one ear. In January, Tyler’s family were given the devastating news that his cancer is now terminal.

Along with my friends, who are pretty much all mums from the same school, we are running 500 miles to raise as much money as possible, to create an extension in Tyler’s home for a sensory room for him, in order to minimise his time spent in Little Havens Hospice. Make A Wish have paid to send Tyler and 4 other members of his family to Eurodisney on 6th March for 3 days. With our fundraising, we have also paid to send a further 5 members of Tyler’s immediate family too. We are battling our way through our 500 miles, and currently have 266 to go. We have a number of RunThrough events booked, so hopefully this number will rapidly diminish.
