At RunThrough, we’re about more than just running. Our events are built on the foundations of community, inclusivity, and making a positive impact where it matters most. This August, we’re thrilled to be hosting two standout events that perfectly embody these values—the Guildford 10k & Junior Race and Run Solihull. Both events promise not only fantastic running experiences but also a chance to give back to the local communities that welcome us with open arms.
Guildford 10k & Junior Race: Running for a Cause
On Sunday, 11th August 2024, runners of all ages will gather in the beautiful town of Guildford for the much-anticipated Guildford 10k & Junior Race. This event offers a scenic, traffic-free route that’s perfect for both seasoned runners and those new to the sport. The 10k course takes participants on an out-and-back journey towards Clandon along the Epsom Road, while the 2k Junior Race ensures that even the youngest runners can join in the fun.
But what truly sets this event apart is its partnership with Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, a charity providing essential care and support to families with children facing life-limiting conditions. With hospices in Hampton and Guildford, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices offer a lifeline to families across Surrey and London. By running in Guildford, you’re directly supporting these vital services, helping to ensure that families receive the care they need during the most challenging times.
Every step taken in Guildford is a step towards making a real difference in the lives of local families. It’s a celebration of community, care, and the collective power of coming together for a cause.
Run Solihull: Supporting Local Health and Wellbeing
On the same weekend, Sunday, 11th August, we’ll also be heading to the heart of the West Midlands for Run Solihull. This event is a celebration of local spirit, offering a Half Marathon, 10k, and Junior races that take runners on a scenic route through the streets of Solihull. With a course that starts and finishes in the town’s centre, this race brings the community together, showcasing the best of what Solihull has to offer.
Run Solihull isn’t just about personal bests and finish lines—it’s about promoting health, wellbeing, and togetherness in the community. The event provides a platform for local runners to challenge themselves and for families to enjoy a day out, all while fostering a sense of unity and pride in their town. This event is in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice as the Charity of the Year.
At Acorns Children’s Hospice, dedicated teams provide specialist palliative care for life-limited and life-threatened babies, children, and young people, as well as support for their families. The need for children’s hospice care never stops; Acorns provides specialist palliative care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In the past year alone, Acorns has cared for more than 750 children and supported almost 1000 families across the West Midlands, including those who are bereaved.
From the start line to the finish, every runner at Run Solihull contributes to a shared experience that strengthens community bonds and encourages a healthier way of life.
A Shared Commitment to Community Impact
Both the Guildford 10k & Junior Race and Run Solihull embody the core values of RunThrough—community, inclusivity, and giving back.
