The RunThrough Foundation’s LONDON TEN, presented by ASICS, is set to make history as London’s first-ever free mass participation road-closed 10k event. Aimed at breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity, this incredible event will take place on December 15th. The event is part of RunThrough’s mission to make running accessible to everyone, regardless of background or financial situation.

A Free Event with a Powerful Mission

The idea behind the LONDON TEN is simple yet profound: to remove financial barriers and make running available to all. Matt Wood, Co-Founder of RunThrough, expressed his excitement, stating, “Our mission at the RunThrough Foundation is to promote inclusivity and accessibility within the running community, and the LONDON TEN embodies that vision. By offering this event free of charge and focusing on engaging underrepresented groups and communities, we aim to inspire individuals from all backgrounds to embrace the joy of running.”

This event follows in the footsteps of the Warrington Running Festival, the RunThrough Foundation’s, and the world’s, first free-to-enter race, which saw one of the highest rates of first-time runners. Now, LONDON TEN is set to do the same—bringing together runners from all walks of life for a day of celebration, community, and, of course, running.

How to Secure Your Spot

To ensure this event is as inclusive as possible, places are being allocated through a ballot system, giving runners multiple opportunities to secure their spot. Special priority is given to individuals from low-income areas of London, ensuring that those who may face financial barriers have a fair chance to participate.

The ballot system is split into waves, and will close on 3rd November 2024 so make sure to enter now to not miss out. This approach gives everyone a chance to enter and ensures a diverse and representative group of runners will be on the start line.

A Celebration of Community

The LONDON TEN isn’t just about the race—it’s about bringing people together and promoting healthy lifestyles. Community groups, running clubs, and non-running organisations alike are invited to get involved. By partnering with local groups, the RunThrough Foundation aims to create a ripple effect of health and fitness across London’s communities.

As Matt Wood shared, “We’re building an ambassador team of people who are going to support this event and give us that knowledge and ability to access as many people from as many backgrounds as possible.” The emphasis on community, representation, and inclusion makes this event a true celebration of what running is all about.
