On November 3rd, we were inspired by the extraordinary journey of Luke Cunliffe and his sister, Max’s mum, as they took on their first marathon at RunThrough Trails Delamere Forest – all in support of a very special little boy named Max. This RunThrough Trails event became more than just a race; it was a heartfelt step towards building a brighter future for Max, their “miracle” son and nephew, born prematurely and facing significant physical challenges with a resilience that amazes everyone he meets.

Max, who lives with cerebral palsy, dystonia, and severe visual impairment, requires around-the-clock support and specialised equipment to live life to the fullest. From private therapies to adapted equipment, Max’s needs are ongoing, and the family is working tirelessly to create an environment where he can thrive, feel safe, and stay involved in family life. That’s why Max’s mum and uncle put on their running shoes, pushed through each mile, and tackled Delamere’s rugged trails with determination – knowing each step brought them closer to their fundraising goals.

The Delamere Trails marathon was a powerful milestone in their mission, and we at RunThrough are proud to have played a part in this journey. The dedication of families like Max’s reminds us of the strength and resilience that running brings, not only to individuals but to entire communities. Thank you to Luke, Max’s mum, and to everyone who supported their incredible run at Delamere. You’ve truly captured the spirit of what our events are all about: coming together, pushing limits, and making a difference.

For those moved by Max’s story, you can follow his journey on Instagram at @max.cassius, where his family shares his adventures and updates on how their efforts are helping create a safe, accessible, and joyful world for Max.
