Name: Lucy Marper

Age: 45

Location: Bray

Favourite distance: London marathon was my favourite race; followed by the Olympic Park 10k; & then Richmond to Brighton 100k….when I smiled the entire time!

Favourite running shoe: Ascics

Favourite clothing brand: Victoria Secrets Sports; 2XU; Under Armour

I was inspired to raise money for Help For Heroes after ambassadors visited my place of work and shared their incredible stories – both with emotion and humour, it was incredibly humbling and so amazing to witness!

It got me thinking what can I do to help support these Heroes, and so in 2016 I decided to run 150 miles over 12 races and raised just under £2000. Having only started running in my 40’s this was a huge challenge and it’s only the start!

In 2017, I wanted to continue my fundraising and thought how could I top this… how about double the mileage, and double the charities so more people benefit, and hopefully I get fitter! Therefore I’m running 300 miles, over 21 races over the year in aid of Help 4 Heroes and HeadsTogether.

I have selected a whole range of races , including 5k’s; 10k’s; 1/2 marathons; full marathons; and 2 Ultra marathons (100k) to contribute to my total mileage. My first race was back in February and I have now completed a total of 18 races. They are coming thick and fast now and I have just completed my 2nd Ultra on September 9th – the Thames Path Challenge covering a huge 62.1 Miles! My final race will be the Great South 10 mile race in October.

Having completed 18 races to date I have achieved three new personals best times in the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon!
