I only started running a few years ago through my daughters persuading me that it was a good alternative to the other activities I participated in like cycling, tennis and netball.

I wouldn’t say I found it easy and remember one of my daughters practically jogging round the Parkrun 5k course with me on Wimbledon Common.

However, never one to give up, I persevered, and gradually the 5k race became easier and I nervously stepped into my first 10k race with RunThrough and made it round without stopping!

From there I have never looked back and ventured into half marathons.

As we went into lockdown in March 2021, I promised myself two things:

1. To run a half marathon every month whether organised (live or virtual)

2. To be more involved in helping those struggling with food poverty through volunteering with the Dons Local Action Group
