I’m relatively new to running but I thought I’d share my story… Last December I started to have trouble with my back and I needed emergency spinal surgery a week before Christmas, and at this point I couldn’t walk never mind run. Thankfully from the surgery I have no pain and I’ve never felt better, due to lack of movement and poor diet, I put on weight and sat at 20st 7lb.

As I was getting stronger, I wanted to loose weight and get fitter so I started to jog and walk to improve my cardio. Finally I was confident enough to book a 10K at Leeds Running Festival with RunThrough and I have never looked back. I’ve done another 6 events with RunThrough and even purchased my season pass for next year, hopefully I can then build up to run the marathon distance this year. Last week I finally hit my target of losing 6 Stone all thanks to running and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve now lost 6st 7lb and am happier than I’ve ever been. With a new PB a few weekend’s ago at Tatton Park of 47:54 😊 and also running 5 half marathons in total. I have just run Manchester Marathon as well. Leeds running fest was my first race and the one I am most proud of, is the 20 mile race at Oulton park.
